Radio Respect, for mental health and wellbeing @withoutstigma

Radio Respect is a digital radio station which focuses on mental health and wellbeing, offering signposting to support and is a place where people can speak about mental health issues.

Run by volunteers, the radio station was started in 2013 from a shed in the back garden of creator Chris Collins, with the use of minimal equipment and receiving a maximum of 5 listeners.

Today, Radio Respect has approximately 60,000 listeners from across the world that tune in on a regular basis. The radio station is online 24/7 streaming music and has live broadcasts in the evening from 7-10pm.

They describe the radio station as providing ‘useful and creative activity to increase wellbeing’, ‘signposting to mental health support services’ and ‘a safe space for people to discuss mental health issues’.

Radio Respect has applied to become a Community Interest Company (C.I.C) and they hope to get funding to enable them to broadcast on DAB radio in the near future.
