An innovative research facility in Preston, which plays a pivotal role in discovering new treatment and healthcare for the future, has been shortlisted for Caring Team of the Year Award in the Health Heroes Awards.
The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Lancashire Clinical Research Facility sees the collaboration of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust and Lancaster University and provides on the doorstep research opportunities for people in the area.
The facility was officially opened last year and provides a unique combination of both physical and mental health research expertise. The facility provides people in the community with the opportunity to take part in early-phase clinical research trials for dementia, neurosciences, oncology and many more.
Karen Palmer, Research Nurse Manager at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust said:
“We are so pleased to have been recognised for our innovative partnership with Lancashire Teaching Hospitals and Lancaster University. Partnership working is extremely important to us and by working together, we are able to provide a combination of expertise and deliver high quality care for people in Lancashire.
