A psychological therapies service run by Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has expanded its provision of online appointments to allow people to access therapy in a more flexible and helpful way.
The Mind Matters IAPT service provides psychological therapies to people experiencing mild to moderate mental health conditions such as stress, anxiety and depression to help them regain their wellbeing.
Online appointments will now be available using Skype for Business, as well as existing platforms; Big White Wall and SilverCloud. Therapy is delivered via video and audio, and Skype for Business can be used on laptops and smart phones, making access to therapy easier and more flexible.
This will help people to overcome barriers to accessing therapy because support will be available with minimal disruption to their busy lifestyles. There is no need to take time off work, arrange childcare or reschedule a gym class.
Dr Gisela Unsworth, Clinical Services Manager, said “We know that life is hectic for people. Sometimes they feel too busy to stop and think about how they can seek support to manage the consequences of always being on the go. It’s important to us that we find ways to help people manage mild to moderate mental health conditions before they escalate into something more serious.
“We are really excited to launch online therapy sessions via Skype for Business to compliment the online options we already have because it will allow people to access support in a way that works best for them, and that is convenient.”
The online sessions are provided by expert clinicians from Surrey and Borders Partnership and are available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm (or up to 8pm in some areas) and Saturday 9am to 5pm.
