You’re invited to help choose the name of a newly refurbished £6m health facility in Hemel Hempstead town centre.
Building works are currently taking place at a site in The Marlowes which will provide a modern base for mental health and physical health services. The project is being run by Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT) and Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust (HCT).
Once it opens in the New Year, the newly refurbished building will be home to community mental health services for adults and children provided by HPFT, along with HCT adult services including bladder and bowel care, podiatry, diabetes retinal screening, and nutrition and dietetics; HCT children’s services including audiology, occupational therapy and physiotherapy, community dentistry and speech and language therapy.
We began building work in May 2017 and the building is due for completion in autumn 2017. There will be a phased approach to moving services into the building, starting at the end of 2017.
Marion Dunstone, Director of Operations at HCT, said: “Many of these teams already work together and coming together under one roof will make that even easier in the coming years. We want to create a modern environment that is welcoming to service users visiting us for outpatient appointments and for our staff to work in.”
Karen Taylor, Director of Integration and Partnerships at HPFT, said: “We are very excited about this project which will develop new ways of providing care and treatment. We have listened to and involved our service users in the delivery of this project and want to continue that so the final name is decided by local people.”
After consulting with patients, service users and carers on what is important to them in the naming of a community healthcare facility, a shortlist of three themes for the name has been drawn up:
- A name with health or wellbeing in the title
- A name linked to the local area
- A name linked to nature
We are now asking you to suggest names based on these themes. Please submit entries by Thursday 31 August 2017. You can do this by post, email or tweeting us using the contact details below:
