Julie has a massive impact to the development of mental health provision, successfully obtaining funding from the CCG for a programme of work 2015/2016 by service user led organisation to undertake holistic recovery work. Julie uses her personal experience to improve things for patients and has herself become a registered mental nurse as part of that process. She leads one of work streams on challenging stigma and as part of this is organising a service user led national conference for world mental health day. The aim of which is to challenge stigma; promote dignity in care and promote parity of esteem. Julie supports other service users in a service user led group and works on innovative ways to involve people and supports them in their recovery (all in her own time). As a patient leader Julie attends mental health programme assurance board to ensure service voice is represented. An inspiration to her peers and staff, Julie facilitated a day long programme of successful events on Time to Talk Day which were run in partnership with Chester PLUS, Rethink mental illness and University of Chester.
