Gemma Elliott, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust. For the last four years, Gemma has worked within the Hadrian Clinic, an acute admission ward in Newcastle. Prior to this she worked for eight years as a support worker where her sparkling qualities shone out. Her post involves providing a whole range of social and recreational activities. She carries out activities both in the clinic and in the local community. This is a very challenging post which involves helping service users find and maintain enthusiasm and motivation.
What makes Gemma unique in this role is her huge capacity to inspire and motivate people at what is often the most difficult point of their lives. She has a gentleness and sensitivity coupled with good humour and the ability to walk into a ward and bring a burst of energy and presence. She is always in high demand and somehow always seems to accommodate every request.
”Gemma has a passion for what she does and she is always into it.”
