Fiona is our Joint Lead for Integrated Physical and Mental Healthcare, together with her colleague Kate Dale, both are from Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust. Fiona is the Physical Health Lead for Inpatient Services.
I am a qualified mental health nurse. I always wanted to be a nurse for as long as I can remember. My initial passion was general nursing, however quite by accident I discovered mental health and I was sold.
In the early 90’s I worked as a health care assistant in an old type of hospital, some may call an “institution” but this gave me the passion I needed to pursue my career as a qualified nurse, and become the nurse I wanted to be.
I qualified in 1999 for the university of Bradford and have worked in this area since, mainly in rehabilitation and more latterly in my other passion, Early interventions.
I have had many development opportunities such as obtaining a nursing degree and then a degree in psychosocial interventions, and behavioural family therapy.
My second passion has more recently been fulfilled in the role that I am doing currently which is physical health lead for inpatients at Bradford District Care Foundation Trust. I have had the great honour of working with Kate Dale who I have learnt a tremendous amount from and hope to continue to strive to meet the physical health needs of service users with serious mental ill health.
