Our special interest group on CYPMH has joint leads, Dr Fiona Pender, from Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Michelle Trainer from Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust.
Dr Fiona Pender graduated in psychology from the University of St Andrews in 1998 and obtained her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from University College London in 2003. She worked as a Specialist Clinical Psychologist at Central and North West London Mental Health NHS Trust, before moving to Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, where she has been since 2005.
Since 2013, she has been Clinical Director of the trust’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Wirral, where she is responsible for service clinical strategy; overall clinical governance, including quality, safety, involvement and effectiveness; and supporting achievement of the cost improvement plan. She is chair of the trust-wide CAMHS clinical network and leads on the ‘Next Step’ cards, a goal based outcome resource designed by young people for young people with emotional and mental health difficulties.
Fiona is a fellow of the Health Foundation through the GenerationQ leadership and quality improvement programme and an associate fellow of the British Psychological Society.
